~*~*1. Most girls think they are fat. Don't ever joke with a girl about weight...even if you are being totally sarcastic and she is skinny and seems confident. Just because you have known a girl for twenty years doesn't mean that you know how she truly feels about weight. Four out of every one hundred college aged girls are bulimic. One out of every hundred teenage girl is starving themselves.*~*~
~*~*2. We aren't as open about our attractions as guys are. This comes from the old fashion belief that the guy should ask a girl out. Don't complain about how you can't get a girl. You may have one that adores you sitting next to you. Don't complain about how you don't have anyone to go do stuff with to someone you haven't invited along. That is just rude. This behavior makes us think "Why am I not good enough?" *~*~
~*~*3. Treat all girls with respect, even if you think of her as just friend. Joking about appearances and other touchy issues does horrible things to a girl's self esteem. 90% of girls are self conscious about something. We are our own worst critic; we don't need your help.*~*~
~*~*4. We want to believe you. Don't make promises you have no intention of keeping. Don't say you are going to call us if you don't intend to. We read into things too much. If you don't call when you say you are going to we are stressing even when you don't think anything of it. (Side note: excuses are bad too) Also, don't stand us up. If we were supposed to hang out, be there. Don't let us get dressed up and get excited if you aren't going to show up. We at least deserve a phone call.*~*~
5. Guard our hearts. Girls get more emotionally attached than guys do. To us a kiss is not "just a little more than a hand shake" We connect emotions to everything. Don't be physically flirtatious with a girl if you don't mean anything by it. Granted there are some friends that I can be physically flirty with but we both know there is an understanding, MAKE SURE there is that understanding.
~*~*6. When we fall, we fall. Don't let a girl fall in love with someone you aren't and don't plan to be. Be honest about everything. Don't put on a show to make us like you because eventually if the relationship goes anywhere we will find out. If you don't intend for the relationship to work out, you shouldn't be in it, so be trustworthy from the beginning.*~*~
7. Pursue us. Girls are created from the heart of God. We want desperately to feel important. Make us feel as if we are the only girl that matters. Make sure your intentions are in the right place if you are pursuing us. There is nothing worse than being pursued one day and then dropped the next. We wonder "what happened?", "are you tired of me?", "am I not enough to keep your attention?".
8. We want to feel pretty. Don't check out other girls or talk about how hot a girl on TV is when we are with you. First of all, we already feel like we can't live up to the girls in the magazines and your comments about them only back up our insecurities.
~*~*9.We want to be a part of your life-- dont put us in a box. We aren't an object to be admired only when you desire affection. We want to be a part of your normal. Introduce us to your friends, take up for us in front of them, show us off, and make us feel like you are proud to call us your girlfriend.*~*~
10. And finally...Be honest about where we are in the relationship. When you fall in love with us, tell us. Don't be that macho guy that keeps his feelings buried. We like to see your sensitive side every now and then. When you see that it isn't going to work out, be upfront. Don't let us keep thinking that things are ok when your heart isn't in it. This will only hurt us more later on.
